About OrionOrion New Zealand Limited owns and operates one of the largest electricity distribution networks in New Zealand. Our network covers 8,000 square kilometres across central Canterbury between the Waimakariri and Rakaia rivers and from the Canterbury coast to Arthur's Pass.
Our core purpose is to consistently deliver a safe, secure and cost-effective supply of electricity to our customers.
Severely affected by four major earthquakes and numerous aftershocks since September 2010, our primary goal has been to keep the electricity flowing through our 13,600 kilometres of lines and cables to over 190,000 homes and businesses.
There is still recovery work ahead of us. We anticipate it will take three to five years to fully restore our network, and we thank all our customers for their patience as we work to keep the power on.
Quake damage may still cause the occasional loss of power, especially if we continue to experience large aftershocks - keep a torch and battery radio handy, and charge your mobile phone often. View more information about: |
