Update: 4:47pm

Power has now been restored to customers whose service was disrupted by the emergency repair work this afternoon.

2:20pm

Orion has just identified a fault that means significant emergency work is required to maintain the power service to Akaroa. It requires immediate repair.

After notification of part power in the area, Orion staff patrolling the line found one line had moved from its insulator and is lying directly on the timber power pole.  As a result, Orion is undertaking emergency repairs before nightfall.

This means that the power will be off to the township and greater Akaroa area including Robinsons Bay, Takamatua, Okains Bay, and Duvauchelle, from approximately 3:30pm today, for around two hours. Orion hopes to have the power fully restored by 5:30pm, all going well.

Orion apologises for the inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience.

Customers are advised to keep an eye on the Orion website, or call the Orion Contact Centre on 03 363 9898 for any updates.
