EECA Energy Wise Awards

Orion Chairman Linda Constable today expressed delight at Orion's naming as Energy Supplier of the Year in the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority Energy-Wise Awards. 

The award was made last night by Energy Minister Pete Hodgson at an award ceremony held in Auckland. 

The award is a recognition of 10 years of efforts to promote energy efficiency and conservation, and gives us further impetus to increase our efforts in this area. We estimate that our efforts have reduced peak demand by the equivalent of three Coleridge power stations as well as 1,030 tonnes of copper and 1,770 tonnes of aluminium, that otherwise would have been needed in new power lines. 

Other unsuccessful finalists included Meridian Energy, Solahart Industries and Mercury Energy.
