Generators humming in Lyttelton

The generators are humming in Lyttelton this morning as work starts on the upgrade to improve the reliability of the power supply to the town.

Five Orion crews have started the first phase of work connecting the lines to the new, further apart poles. The town is now off-grid and the huge generators in the Port and those additional generators serving the businesses are powered up and running.

A reminder that there will be a brief power outage at around 4:30pm when the work is completed, and we switch Lyttelton, Cass Bay and Corsair Bay back onto the upgraded mains network.
