Today’s earthquake had a reasonably minor impact on Orion’s network with just over 500 customers impacted.
By mid-afternoon that number was down to around 190. Areas impacted were northeast Christchurch and Piper Valley on Banks Peninsula.
Orion’s CEO, Rob Jamieson says “we are working hard to quickly restore power to those still affected.”
Orion’s field crews will carry out their usual checks on Orion’s buildings and equipment over coming days, given the magnitude of the earthquake.
