Process for power restoration

Orion is continuing to make good progress with the restoration of services to homes and businesses affected by the Port Hills fires.

As at early Tuesday afternoon, around 20 homes remained without power in the affected area.

Power is now available to most customers in the area.

Before power can be restored Orion crews will visit each home and business to check with customers that the premise has not been damaged by fire and the power can be turned back on safely. Customers will need to be at home when Orion crews call to make their checks.

If a home or business premise has been damaged by the fires, it may require an electrician to check before the home is re-livened.

Restoring services to the remaining homes in the area will be a priority for the coming week, and will continue to be done progressively, as crews are given access by emergency services to the affected areas.
