Changes to fixed contributions for connections
Orion has undertaken a review of its posted charges for standard new connections. The review is informed by the Electricity Authority’s pricing reform programme of work. As a result, the changes include a combination of increased, decreased, and unchanged charges, which are explained below.
The following changes come into effect from 1 April 2026:
- Urban single residential or small/medium commercial (single phase, ≤60A, within 30m) will increase from $2,070 to $2,500 per premise.
- Brownfield/Strata real estate developments ( ≤60A per phase, within 30m) will increase from $2,070 to $2,500 per premise.
- Urban single residential or small/medium commercial (three phase, ≤60A per phase, within 30m) will decrease from $6,210 to $4,700 per premise.
- Rural single residential or small/medium commercial (≤60A per phase, within 150m; excluding over-boundary work) will see no change, remaining at $9,000 per premise.
The published connection charges schedule will be available here on our website from 1 April 2026.
