From 1 April 2027 we will no longer offer unmetered temporary supplies on our network.
We’re making this change to improve efficiencies, safety and remove vulnerabilities:

The number of retailers accepting unmetered temporary supplies has reduced significantly, with only 3 of the 47 retailers operating on our network continuing to support them.

Maintaining the separate processes required to administer these connections is increasingly complex, time-consuming, and inefficient.

Safety concerns have increased. These connections are more vulnerable to electricity theft, and without a meter, retailers have limited visibility of how much electricity is being consumed and by whom.

We have also seen a steady decline in applications for unmetered temporary supplies as customers and providers increasingly move to metered temporary connections.
We are providing an extended transition period before this change takes effect. This allows businesses that currently rely on unmetered temporary supplies sufficient time to adapt their operations and transition to metered temporary connections.
