UPDATE 8:05am Transpower advises that they hope to resolve the situation shortly.

Transpower has issued a Grid Emergency Notice this morning to customers in the NORTH ISLAND that there may be insufficient power available in the system to meet demand. This is as a result of heavy demand on the network due to the cold weather and a fault in the cable delivering power to the North Island.

Transpower is calling on people in the North Island to delay using things like washing machines, dryers, dishwashers but not to turn their heating off.

This does not affect customers in the SOUTH ISLAND.

You can keep up to date with the power in your area by visiting our website, at www.oriongroup.co.nz, or call our Customer Support team on 0800 363 9898.
